Work-life balance

    Strengthening compatibility

In addition to flexitime arrangements and a variety of part-time models, we make it possible for employees to work from home. Our goal is to develop solutions that reconcile the requirements of the individual’s own position in the company with private and, especially, family needs in the best way possible.

In 2009, we established a new agreement with our employees in Germany on leaves of absence to care for close relatives in need of nursing care. This agreement goes well beyond the requirements set by law. For example, upon approval our employees can take a leave of absence of up to two years; the law only provides for six months

We offer our employees in the U.S. and in Germany counseling and support in personal crisis and conflict situations. This program is free of charge and absolutely confidential.

Flexibly manage personal lifetime working hours

Our time-value account system “db zeitinvest” in Germany is geared to flexibly managing personal lifetime working hours. In this program, our employees can put cash compensation components into two different types of accounts, which may be exchanged for a sabbatical or early retirement later on.

Since its launch in 2001, more than 5,000 employees have participated in this innovative time-value account system and have opened a “db zeitinvest” benefits account.

Going back to work after maternity/paternity leave

We assist our employees in getting reliable childcare and provide daycare spaces in the immediate vicinity of employees’ workplaces at numerous locations.

Regular newsletters, re-entry workshops, and counselling make it easier for mothers and fathers to stay in contact during maternity or paternity leave and to return to work.
